Happy birthday,​ Rahul Dravid! Some interesting facts about 'The Wall'

Born on January 11 in 1973, Rahul Dravid went on to define an entire era of cricket for his fans. The man, who was to later be known as The Wall in cricket, started playing the sport at the age of 12. And went on to become one of the country's most-loved players. 

As the man of many matches turns a year older today, here are some interesting facts about him: 

- You may know him as 'The Wall' or 'Mr. Dependable', but the ace cricketer also goes by the nickname 'Jammy'. Dravid's father used to work at the Kissan factory, hence earning him the name. He also went to on star in an ad for Kissan. 

- Dravid is the only Indian to score centuries in four consecutive test match innings.

 He also became the only non-Australian cricketer to give the Bradman Oration in 2012. 

- Though the stellar performer gave us was behind many of India's wins, Dravid first played Hockey before taking to cricket. 

- In November 2003, Dravid added another feather to his cap. The batsman scored 50 runs off just 22 balls against New Zealand. This is the second fastest ODI fifty score by an Indian, after Ajit Agarkar

 Dravid fell in love with his friend Vijeta Pendharkar, a doctor by profession, after having known the family for years. The couple tied the knot in 2003, and have two sons, Samit and Anvay. And following in his father's footsteps, Sambit smashed a brilliant 150, two days ahead of the former Indian cricketer's 45th birthday, during the Karnataka State Cricket Association's (KSCA) BTR Cup Under-14 tournament. Now isn't the that perfect birthday gift.
