It’s still happy Christmas for 84% of Mindanaoans this year – SWS



Notwithstanding the implementation of martial law in Mindanao, the country’s second largest island still recorded the highest data of those Filipinos who expect a happy Christmas in the country.
According to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, 84% Filipinos living in Mindanao said that they expect a happy Christmas.
Since 2002, expectations to have a merry Christmas have always been recorded with a high statistics in Mindanao among others.
“In 2017, expectations of happy Christmas is 84% in Mindanao, followed by 80% in Visayas and 75% in Balance Luzon,” the polling agency survey results showed on Saturday evening.
“Compared to 2016, expectations of happy Christmas improved in Mindanao, Visayas and NCR, but hardly changed in Balance Luzon,” SWS said.
The survey was conducted from Dec 8- 16, and Filipinos who said that they expect a “happy” Christmas increased to 77%, from 73% in 2016.
The over-all data recorded this year was the highest since 2003, according to SWS’ report.
The survey was done using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults nationwide, with 300 equal respondents from Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Margin of error of ±3% for nationwide was applied, while and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, polling body said.
